The Okotoks close out what's turned into a three-game series with the Edmonton Prospects Friday night, hoping for the sweep, and their fifth-straight win overall.

The Dawgs posted back-to-back shut-out wins Thursday night (3-0) and Tuesday afternoon (1-0)  over the Prospects, after their Wednesday game with the Medicine Hat Mavericks was rained-out.

After a 3-8 start to the season, the Dawgs are now 7-8, and have a chance to hit .500 for the first time this season, while overtaking Edmonton for third spot in the WMBL's Alberta Division.

Manager Brett Thomas says his team is really starting to roll.

"We always expect a little bit of struggles early," he says. "Just guys getting to know each other, being in a new country and all that, so it's nice. I mean, I think these guys are really starting to enjoy being around each other, and that's the best part, is to watch them gel and have some fun out here."

Following a stellar Dawgs debut by pitcher Dylan Nelson, who threw a three-hit complete-game shut-out, Thomas his pitching staff just keeps getting better.

"If these guys can continue to follow suit, just competing in the zone, we're going to be really good," he says. "We still need to figure out some things offensively, but it was nice to scratch three (runs) and that be enough."

The Dawgs have a day off Saturday before returning home for the annual Father's Day game at Seaman Stadium Sunday afternoon.

First pitch for that game goes at 2:05.
