The CP Holiday Train is going virtual again this year.

In recent years, the train has travelled through area communities, including areas of the Foothills, decorated in Christmas lights and offering a free concert.

The train also didn't physically run last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"While we are disappointed we again cannot bring the Holiday Train to communities, we are honored to run a virtual program and continue to support communities and food banks across our network as they work to address food insecurity in North America," said Keith Creel, CP President and Chief Executive Officer.

$29.4 million has been raised with 4.9 million pounds of food gathered since the Holiday Train started in 1999.

Money from the virtual event will be going towards the community food banks that typically receive donations.
