It's a big day for players from the Willow Creek Cobras in Claresholm as they return to school as the conquering hero's after winning the Provincial Tier IV Football title Saturday, November 23, with a 47-0 win over the St. Paul Lions.

Coach Tim Bryson says even he was surprised by that score.

"I've never coached a team with such an explosive offence. I think defensively we really put it together in the last seven weeks. I think our starting defence during our seven game win streak gave up one touchdown."

It's the Cobras third title, with the other two coming in 2006 and 2017.

Bryson's been there for all three and says each is special in it's own way, particularly this year.

"The development of Jackson Wright at quarterback was an amazing thing, and other kids who hadn't been very good players last year, really came into their own this year and played "lights out football." So that's always one of the great joys of coaching young men is watching them develop from one year to the next.

Bryson says the boys will be getting measured for championship rings this week, but he's not sure if there's plans for any kind of school wide celebration for their win.
