Fire fighters in Claresholm are being compensated for time they're "on call".

Administration says it brings the town up to regional standards, shows appreciation for the efforts of fire fighters and will provide some relief for the fire chief who's on call pretty much every weekend.

Town council has approved a $4,700 per year rate for on-call officers.

It works out to about $192 for two days covering weekends.

Ninety-five dollars of that will be covered by the Willow Creek MD, with the Town paying the balance.
