Last Saturday was Jumpstart Day in High River which included plenty of festivities around the town in order to raise money for the children of the community.

I participated in the Charity Check Stop which took place beside the intersection of Centre Street and 7th Avenue SE.

The day was extremely positive with many residents donating to the great Jumpstart cause.

The fundraiser ended up raising around $2500 in the two hours the checkstop was in effect.

The Jumpstart Charity was created by Canadian Tire in 2005 as a result of a growing concern for the inactivity of Canadian children.

Today, they help thousands of children across Canada be able to participate in a variety of sports and games.

The Jumpstart Charity provides financial help to low-income families to help pay for numerous aspects of sports programs including, registration fees, equipment, and travel costs.

Another great feature, was the fact that from all the money raised this weekend in our community, 100% of the donations will stay here in High River.

Therefore, I encourage the citizens of High River to donate to this great cause in order to give all children in our community the opportunity to get active in our community!

The High River Canadian Tire will be collecting donations the whole month of June for the Jumpstart Program.
