CHAMBER AGM ONLINE

The High River Chamber of Commerce held their annual general meeting at their lunch on March 28.

Steven Muth is back on the board as president, Thom Theroux is the vice-president and Jennifer Avery is the treasurer.

Muth says this is the business meeting that they have to have every year.

"One of the businesses is to get our board set up for the year," said Muth.

Long time board members Monty Stafford and Angela Piovesana have retired.

"We are fortunate to have Brenda Welsh come on board with Westridge Laser as our new board member. So we have an excellent slate of nine board members that are going to work really hard to keep the Chamber moving forward."

The Chamber is allowed to have up to 12 members on their board.

The group is also looking for a fresh start in 2019 and they have some big goals in mind for the year.

"2018 was kind of a restructuring year for the chamber. It was the first year we didn't have a trade fair and we didn't have any government funding because a lot of those programs dried up."

They have have a small deficit of $2,100 for 2018 to recover from.

He adds they have a new strategic plan in place, they have a lot of measures in place to build up memberships and they have some events coming up.

"We are excited for what 2019 brings."

They are looking at doubling their membership which means recruiting 150 new members.

Muth said when people start to see what they are planning, businesses and people will start to see the benefits of what the chamber brings to the table.
