CFR kicks off today in Red Deer and runs right until Championship Sunday Nov. 6.

As you can imagine there will be a lot of southern Albertans vying for championship buckles and the payday that comes with it.

Notables to watch include Saddle Bronc riders Lucas Macza (High River) along with Kole Ashbacher (Arrowwood).  Sam Kelts (Stavely) didn't qualify this year finishing 15th on the year just three spots back from the top 12.

Keep your eyes peeled in Bareback for Ty Taypotat (Nanton).  He finished second overall on the year.

In Bull Riding, Brock Radford (De Winton) will be representing.

Over in Tie Down Roping, Logan Bird (Nanton) and his championship horse Pecos, along with Colt Cornett (Brant) and Wyatt Hayes (Granum).

Steer Wrestling athletes include Cole Harley and Jonny Webb, both from Okotoks.

In Team Roping, Headers Clint Buhler (Nanton) and Wyatt Hayes (Granum) both qualified along with Heelers, Tristan Woolsey (Nanton), Jeremy Buhler (Arrowwood), Cole Davison (Vulcan) and Chase Simpson (Claresholm).

And in ladies' events this year they Whiteside sisters, Bradi and Kylie from Longview both qualified in Barrel Racing.  Five locals also qualified for Breakaway Roping including both Bradi and Kylie Whiteside, Lakota Bird and Jenna Dallyn from Nanton, and Shaya Biever from Claresholm.
