The Okotoks "AAA" Midget Oilers make their way to High River Saturday, December 14 for an event they're calling "Hockey Day in High River."

It finishes with the Midget Oilers taking on the Leduc Oil Kings at 5:30 p.m. at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex

Oilers Coach, Ryan Barrett, says it's a great way to spread their brand of hockey around the Foothills.

"It'll be a really good game for the fans to watch. You know both teams can skate and I think that at the end of the day we want to show what kind of talent the "AAA" midget league has and the benefit of coming to watch a game. So, hopefully we can get lots of people to make the trip down to the Pason (Arena) in Okotoks after that."

Barrett says it's something they do once a year to thank High River for the support of their team.

"The High River people are awesome! You know, I'm actually a member at the Highwood Golf Course, so I know quite a few people from High River. You know they're just a down to earth group of people and a lot of fun. We can expect them to support the team and a lot of their players that are from High River on our team."

The players will be helping out the Salvation Army at the High River Sobey's Noon to 3 p.m. and Barrett will host a clinic for High River hockey coaches at 4:30 p.m. at the Rec-Plex.
