The Carstar Okotoks Bisons took out the Rocky Rams in game one of their best of five HJHL semi-final playoff series.

They piled on taking 70 shots on the Rams goalies while their own netminder, Grady Nicholas only faced 17 shots on the night.

The Bisons won 5-2 with the Rams getting their final goal on a powerplay with one second left on the clock.

Jake Snashall got the Bisons on the board first on assists from Easton Dean and Nolan Smith, but the Rams would reply next with Ethan MacIntyre netting one to take a 2-1 lead into the first period intermission.

Then Daniel Tainton would be the long goal scorer in the second period stretching their lead to 3-1 before the period ended.

Tainton would add two more the hat trick and a 5-1 lead. The Rams would score with one second left for a final score of 5-2.

The Herd and Rams now don't play game two until this Friday in Rocky Mountain House as the rest of the schedule's now been set.

  • Game two: Friday March 8 at 8:30 p.m. in Rocky
  • Game three: Saturday March 9 at 8 p.m. in Okotoks 
  • Game four if needed: Wednesday March 13 at 7:45 p.m. in Rocky
  • Game five if needed: Friday March 15 at 8 p.m. in Okotoks 

The winner of the series moves onto the HJHL final series.
