Don't Call Him Boo-Boo!

Hikers, campers and residents of the back country need to be on alert.

August is a very active month for bears as they roam in search of food sources in preparation for winter.

Darcy Whiteside with Alberta Sustainable Resource Development, says residents should avoid attracting the animals to their back yards.

He says  there are also a few things to remember if you're hiking or camping.

However, if you do encounter a bear, play it cool.

Whiteside says you should also call the nearest Fish and Wild Life office or the 24-hour Report A Poacher line at 1-800-642-3800.
