Leslie Lyle Betker

November 16, 1932 - November 29, 2017

Les, with one ‘s’, Betker beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed into the presence of his Lord & Saviour on Wednesday November 29, 2017 in his 85th year.

He was predeceased by his parents, 8 brothers and 3 sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife Valri of 63 years. His children; Deborah Lynn Fletcher, Mona Rae (Dennis) Snyder, Clay Owen Betker. Grandchildren Carrie (Devin) Dovell, Matthew Fletcher, Dustin Snyder, Melissa (Cortney) Mead, Krista (Mike) Powell. 7 Great grandchildren; Mikayla and Peyton Dovell, Colby Blandin, Hunter and Connor Mead, Olivia and Everett Powell. He is also survived by his sister Shirley Burtnick as well as many nieces and nephews.

Les was a charismatic, kind, energetic man who’s smile would light up a room as well as that twinkle in his blue eyes. He was also the most amazing gardener. He would spend hours upon hours in his yard, as well as many others, only stopping when the moon came out and sometimes just a little bit longer. He loved to tinker away in his garage and try to find a use for all of the treasures he collected. If you needed something chances are Les had it! He was a great storyteller and we often sat around the table listening to him tell stories of his life and the mischievous things he used to get up to as a child. He had a passion for playing games, Aggravation and UNO were a few of his favourites, probably because they were the easiest to cheat at which he was known to do a time or two! He loved to watch his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren do the things they were passionate about and he was always their biggest cheerleader. To say he will be greatly missed is an understatement. He touched the lives of everyone he met and has left a little piece of himself in all of us.

A memorial service in his honour was held on Tuesday, December 5th at 1:00pm at the High River Baptist Church. A second Celebration of Life Service will be held in Regina at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, tributes to be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation.
