Aninger, Viola Mary

1925 - 2017

 

Viola Aninger passed away peacefully with her beloved husband Sebastian Aninger at her side on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Sunrise Village in High River.

 

Born in Leofeld, Saskatchewan March 22, 1925, she was schooled nearby in a small rural school and entered nursing school with the Sisters of Elizabeth at the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Humboldt, where she stayed on to teach obstetrics and pediatrics for seven years. After moving to High River she nursed at the High River Hospital. In 1970 she married Sebastian Aninger. For many years she served as coordinator of the pastoral care team for St. Francis de Sales parish. During her time in High River she was very involved in all aspects of St. Francis de Sales and the High River community and hosted many dinners and family reunions.

 

She was a faith filled, inspiring and optimistic person, concerned with everyone's welfare and made a lasting impression on all who knew her. She was predeceased by, her parents, Nick & Virginia (Thill) Hauer, her siblings, Al & Mary (Zimmer) Hauer, Cecilia & Pete Blaseg, Margaret & John Bens, Joe & Lucille (Dufort) Hauer, Ray & Marg (Defries), Lizzie & Sylvester Walerius, Anna & Joe Medernach, Irene & Ed Lingel, Lorraine & Alfred Threinen, Marcella & Lawrence Yungwith.

 

Viola is survived by her cherished husband Sebastian Aninger and numerous nieces and nephews who cared for her deeply.

 

Services will be at St. Francis de Sales Church, 206 9th Ave SW, High River, AB. on Saturday December 16 at 10am.

 

Viola wished to thank Dr. Adam Vyse & Carmen for their concern and care over many years; Dr. G. Samis and the medical, nursing and rehabilitation staff at the Peter Lougheed Hospital and Unit 58 at the Rockyview Hospital as well as at Sunrise Village in High River. She also wished to thank special friends: Joanne and Frank Van Donzel, Mary Ann and George Dearing, Betty and Al Mouser and Maj & Luella Wojcik for their faithful support especially during the last year of her life. Grateful appreciation goes out to all nieces and nephews who were held in great affection but especially Ralph and Linda Medernach, Bonnie and Dan Smith, Randy and Laura Hauer and Grace and Dick McKean. A grateful thank you to Fr. Philip Le, Fr. Xaver Aninger and Fr. Marcus Klemens for their many masses and prayers. Lastly a loving thank you to so many friends who joyfully and generously shared in her and Sebastian’s lives in High River.
