Alberta Summer Games looking for torch bearers

If you've ever wanted to carry a torch, now's your chance.

The Alberta Summer Games is looking for close to 30 torchbearers to kick off the event.

The Games are taking place in Okotoks and Black Diamond (aka Diamond Valley) from July 20th to 23rd involving 14 sports.

They need 20 volunteers to carry the torch in Okotoks with about half a dozen for Black Diamond. 

It will kick off in Black Diamond on the morning of July 19th and will then jump to Okotoks.

In Okotoks, the relay will start at the new library and end at Bill Robertson Park.

There's a barbecue planned for a kick-off party at the end of the torch relay.

You don't need to be an athlete to apply as they are looking for a wide variety of people to represent the two towns.

You can also nominate yourself, a group or society or anyone you feel is a special member of our communities.

Applications are accepted now until the end of March.
