Central Alberta RCMP have advised motorists that a protest on the QEII this weekend may cause traffic disruptions.

An ongoing protest will be happening on the QE II at the Juniper Lake Rest Stop in Central Alberta over the weekend.

"Disruptions to traffic flow from the protest on the QE II has been minimal at this point," said Cpl. Troy Savinkoff in a media release from Friday, April 26. "With fairly good weekend weather we can expect an increase in protestors. This combined with traffic congestion could present a safety issue."

The RCMP is reminding people that these protests can include vehicles conducting a "slow roll", which is a small convoy of vehicles travelling slower than the posted speed limit on highways.

Delays are expected, and motorists are advised to find alternative routes.
