CN Rail say they delivered 6,038 grain cars across Western Canada last week, exceeding their weekly target of 5,000 grain cars.

They say they've delivered over 5,500 grain cars for six consecutive weeks, and will fulfill all their orders this week.

CN says bringing on hundreds of new train crews and leasing new locomotives is what's yielding these results.

The rail company's sustainable system capacity for their share of grain movements in Western Canada is 4,000 cars in the winter and 5,500 cars in the summer.

In addition, CN Rail has committed to providing a report on August 1 of each year about their ability to move grain during the crop year, and another report released on October 1 annually about their plan to move grain in the winter.
