On Tuesday, UFA celebrated 100 years of incorporation.

United Farmers of Alberta, or UFA, formed in 1909, and has played an important role in Alberta as a lobby group, a political party, and a farm-supply retail chain.

Customer Account Manager at UFA in High River, Tanya Froh, says many people don't know about UFA's political history.

"I think one of the really cool things about UFA is that we were actually a ruling party for the province of Alberta, and we had the first women to sit in a seat in the Legislature."

The United Farmers of Alberta political party was in power from 1921 to 1935.

While in power, UFA secured mineral rights for Alberta.

Even though UFA was founded in 1909, they were not incorporated until 1918.

"UFA is owned by our customers," Froh says. "I think it's fantastic because it means that we live and work with our friends, our neighbors, and we're here to support your business and support you in whatever way possible."
