In 112 years of Canadian Angus Association history, this is only their fourth President from the Maritimes.

President, Trevor Welch is from Western New Brunswick, and was at the Farm Fair International in Edmonton last month.

"I'm pretty tickled really, I feel honoured. I've been on the Board of Directors for four years as the Maritime representative, and to be chosen by your peers as the President, it's quite an honour."

The last time a Maritimer served as the President was 29 years ago.

Welch says, there was a fantastic group of Angus cattle at the show.

"Oh they're awesome! The reds and blacks both, they're just beautiful females and bull calves. I've just been watching some of the bull calf class now, and just beautiful animals for sure."

The Canadian Angus Association also recently announced their new CEO is Myles Immerkar from Guelph, Ontario, who will take the reigns in January.
