The High River Agricultural Society was pleased to hear the Province will continue to fund agricultural societies for the next three years.

President of the High River Agricultural Society, Ted Evans, says last year they didn't receive their grant money until October, when usually it comes mid-July.

"We were cautioned by our accountants in the fall to plan for nothing, so it's welcomed news that they are going to continue with the grant funding for the ag societies."

The Alberta Government made the announcement last week, and said the Province will spread $11.5 million per year to the 283 primary and seven regional ag societies in Alberta.

Evans says, your activities and grant application is how the Government determines how much money each ag society in Alberta will receive.

He says, the stability for the next three years will definitely help.

"We have a fresh bunch of business men and volunteers at the ag society, that's one of the stepping stones, and bringing on more volunteerism, more fundraising, and making the facility better and better for the generations to come."

He says, the grant money will be similar to what the High River Ag Society received last year.
