This year, Alberta Open Farm Days will be taking place on both Saturday and Sunday, August 19-20.

Ag tourism sites, farms, and ranches have been opening their doors to the public for five years, so everyone has the chance to expirience life on the family farm.

Alberta Minister of Culture and Tourism, Ricardo Miranda, encourages people to saddle up for a countryside road trip to meet the producers who grow our food.

"There's literally hundreds of activities to choose from. There's stables and petting farms, alpaca farms, corn mazes, food and vegetable, U-pick farms, and amazing culinary events that feature the best of farm to table for the foodie in all of us."

The culinary events will be hosted at a number of locations around the province where local chefs will be teaming up with local producers to prepare a fantastic meal.

The farms will offer educational tours, and some may even have home grown products available for purchase. Over 100 farms will be opening their doors, and the admission is free.
