The comment period on Canada's new national food policy has been extended to August 31, 2017.

Since the online survey was launched in May, over 22,000 citizens have provided their feedback.

The Canadian Government is pleased with this response rate, so they will keep the survey open to let even more citizens express their thoughts and concerns.

The Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, Lawrence MacAulay, shares his thoughts on A Food Policy for Canada.

"Canadian's responses to our online survey show they truly care about food issues. I encourage everyone to take advantage of the extended comment period, and I look forward to hearing from a variety of perspectives throughout regional consultations and community discussions. Understanding Canadian's priorities will be essential as we develop A Food Policy for Canada."

The Government of Canada will be holding regional engagement sessions across the country throughout August and September.
