The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) is hosting their 23rd Annual Conference in Edmonton, October 3-5.

Attendees will learn about safety concerns from new and changing agricultural technologies, trends, and legislation.

Conference Coordinator, Diane Wreford, says they will cover leading edge topics in farm safety.

"The final session on Wednesday, is looking at new and emerging technologies. We're talking about drones, autonomous machines, needless injections, and all kinds of interesting things. We'll also be talking about robotic milkers and more on the dairy farm. We've got people from all those different disciplines to come and talk about what's new, and what they're looking at as safety concerns."

The conference opens Tuesday afternoon with a panel of farmers and safety experts discussing why producers don't always practice what they preach.

Wreford says, the conference will also have speakers addressing safety concerns regarding marijuana health and safety on the farm.

"We're going to look at it from the point of view of people who might be using it recreationally coming to work on farm, or on a agricultural enterprise. We're going to talk about growing marijuana, and how you protect the workers who are exposed to it, and what all the safety concerns will  be."
