The Advancing Women in Agriculture Conference in Calgary this week drew a crowd of over 400 women from all aspects of the industry.

On Monday, March 11, Catalyst CEO and Partner, Terri Holowath who lives near Cayley, taught a workshop about owning your role as a leader in agriculture.

Holowath says one of the main takeaways was to understand yourself.

"Understand what motivates you and where you like to work, and understand that no everybody else is like that. It's easier to change how you deal with other people as opposed to expecting them to change to you."

She says many farmers don't acknowledge they are actually leaders of an organization.

"Sometimes they don't set the time aside because they need to balance the production as well as the leadership."

Holowath says it was a great conference to push people outside of their day to day routines on the farm and challenge themselves with new concepts.
