Harvesting crews have been able to get back in the fields since it was reported $3 billion worth of crops were unharvested in Alberta two weeks ago.

Farmers had to hold off on harvest for weeks thanks to precipitation in late September and early October.

Alberta's Agriculture and Forestry Minister, Oneil Carlier, says the concerns from Alberta farmers were very real.

"We've had some spectacular weather here in October now, which is going to make a huge difference as we go forward, but I have had conversations with AFSC (Agriculture Financial Services Corporation) to ensure that all process is in place, that we have insurance adjusters ready to go."

Farm Credit Canada says it will offer flexible terms to its customers in Alberta, Northern and Central Saskatchewan on a case-by-case basis because of excessive moisture this fall delaying harvest and reducing the quality of this year's crop.

However, farmers in the Southern and Central Alberta seem to be making good progress now.
