Providing Indigenous Peoples Easier Access to Government Ag Programs

A new direct line of support is now available to assist Indigenous peoples and communities to provide easier access to government agricultural programs and services.

The Indigenous Pathfinder is a one-on-one service which connects Indigenous peoples with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada staff who listen to project ideas and give suggestions on how to proceed.

 

Fire Prevention Week

This week is fire prevention week, and a Delia Fire Chief is reminding farmers to stay safe out on their combines once they get back in the field.

Fire Cheif Dallas Stevens says, getting later into the season, conditions won't be as dry and chances of a fire are a lot smaller, but the danger never fully goes away.

 

AFSC Unveils New Lending Programs

Agriculture Financial Services Corporation (AFSC) is expanding it's lending program.

Under the new program, agriculture producers can access up to $15 million to invest in their farms and operations, which is up from the $5 million lending limit.

Alberta's Agriculture Minister, Oneil Carlier, says increasing the lending limit allows AFSC to continue to play a crucial role in building a strong and diverse agriculture sector.
