Consumers Thinking About Reducing Meat Consumption

A new survey conducted by Dalhousie University shows just under a third of Canadians are thinking of reducing their meat consumption over the next six months.

The survey shows health, the environment, animal welfare and taste appear to be major factors for the shift.

But the majority of respondents said they strongly or somewhat agree they're big fans of meat.

More Alberta Regions Eligible For 2018 Livestock Tax Deferral

The federal government has added ten more Alberta regions to their 2018 livestock tax deferral list.

Producers in these areas are dealing with dry conditions or excess moisture, and can defer a portion of this year's sale proceeds of their breeding stock until next year to help build their herds again.

New Trade Deal Will Come Into Effect This Year

The Asia-Pacific trade deal we've been talking about a lot is going to come into effect Sunday, December 30.

Australia has officially become the sixth country to ratify the agreement where Canadian agriculture will get better market access to countries like Japan.
