A big name in livestock welfare is coming to Olds this spring.

Temple Grandin will be speaking at the 2018 Livestock Care Conference, March 14 to 15, hosted by Alberta Farm Animal Care.

Executive Director of Alberta Farm Animal Care, Annemarie Pedersen, says they're really looking forward to having Temple Grandin out again.

"If you've seen her, she's a very dynamic speaker, and she's very passionate about animal welfare and what we can do in this industry to make sure we're doing the right thing for the animals."

The Conference also features speakers in pig production, progress in transportation, and the poultry industry.

"We start on the 14th with workshops and there's a Meet the Experts for students, primarily agriculture students in post-secondary education, but the full Conference is really the 15th. That's where we have our speakers."

Pedersen says, they will also be giving out their Awards of Distinction in the areas of Communication, Industry Leadership, and Innovation for livestock welfare.

The deadline to nominate individuals and groups for the Awards of Distinction is February 15. For more information on how to nomiate someone, follow the link.
