To celebrate Canada's 150 birthday, the Okotoks Museum & Archives will be going back into the vault with their latest exhibit 'Okotoks - Our Place In History'.

The museum will continually throughout the year add key historical facts and items that incorporates Okotoks with the rest of the country.

Okotoks Museum & Archives Specialist Kathy Coutts

Museum Specialist Kathy Coutts says it's hard to pack 150 years into one exhibit.

"We've developed a schedule through the course of the year and focus on key themes but within those themes we're going to change exhibit regularly," she says. "In order to get as much history of Okotoks and Canada as possible."

Currently the Museum has the 'Trails, Tails & Settlers Tales showcase where stories of the old Macleod Trail can be unearthed Coutts says.

"That route was a stage coach route and also a supply route. We also have a room called 'Sense Of Community" during the course of the year that room will change from clubs & organizations, churches and then it will go into sports and education."

Coutts says the Sense Of Community display will stay up till the spring and she's currently working on new pieces of history to all exhibits.

"The Town's history doesn't go back 150 years but we wanted to draw upon the early pioneers that really started to settle this area and how it has grown."
