The Magic Rodeo allowed children of all abilities to get a taste of the rodeo lifestyle.

On Saturday the Okotoks Recreation Centre hosted the event where kids could ride horses, try out different rodeo events, and speak to cowboys and cowgirls from the Okotoks Pro Rodeo.

Mike Labelle, organizer, says it was great to see the kids reactions.

"There was one little girl and she was so scared to get on the horse and she got on and when she got done she threw her arms in the air and said 'I did it!'. She climbed that mountain, got over the fear of the horses, and to see these kids have that joy is amazing and that's why we do it. If we've touched one or two of these kids and made things that much better for them we've done our job."

He says this was the second year for the event.

"It's grown exponentially, we've had twice as many kids this year and we have more volunteers and great sponsors on hand. We're so fortunate the Okotoks Pro Rodeo let's us hold this in conjunction with their three day rodeo."

Labelle adds residents can expect to see the magic rodeo return again next year.
