Now's the time to recognize the hard work people put into the forage and grasslands industries.

Alberta Forage Industry Network (AFIN) is looking for nominations for their 2019 Leadership Award.

AFIN Chair, Christine Fulkerth, says past winners have been ranchers, mentors and people involved in research and the seed industry.

"Forages tend to be kind of the crop that a lot of people don't consider, and we want to make sure that the message is getting out there that it's an important crop and one of the major crops that we grow here in Alberta."

Nominations are due Friday, February 15, and Fulkerth says nominations can be submitted in a letter format, preferably with support from others on your nomination choice.

"It's pretty informal," she says. "There's a committee that goes through the selection process, so the more information we have, the easier it is for us to select their nominee."
