The Federal Government is investing in hiring foreign workers in agriculture.

They're giving up to $279,223 to the Canadian Agricultural Human Resource Council, so they can lead the International Phase of the Quality AgriWorkforce Management Program.

The Government says the project is designed to clarify best practices for recruiting and retaining international workers.

"Our Government knows farmers and processors rely on a skilled work force to stay competitive," says Minister of Agriculture, Lawrence MacAulay. "We proudly support projects like this that improve the sector's ability to better fill employment gaps and secure jobs in a safe and respectful environment."

The money will be put towards developing and delivering communications and training resources for employers such as webinars, guides and workshop training materials.
