Due to the delay in harvest, the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) has extended its deadline for the harvest sample program.

Producers who want to take part have until November 30, 2018 to register online, with a deadline of December 31, 2018 to submit crop samples. There is no charge to enroll.

"We decided to extend the deadline for harvest sample submissions to make sure that as many producers as possible could take advantage of the program," said CGC Chief Commissioner Patti Miller. "Having quality results in hand when they go to the elevators will help producers make the best of a challenging year."

The program offers an unofficial grade and quality information, and new for this year, the Grain Commission is offering falling number and DON (deoxynivalenol) results for wheat.

Crop quality data generated from harvest samples is made available to marketers to promote the sale of Canadian grain.
