CPTPP Bill Passes Third Reading In The House Of Commons

Bill C-79 has passed the House of Commons.

The legislation will implement the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, which will give Canada's agriculture sector better market access to the Asia-Pacific.

The Bill still needs to pass the Senate.

Grant Program Open To Help Farms Comply With New OHS Rules

Farm employers with waged, non-family workers are eligible for grant money from the Alberta Government.

The Farm Health and Safety Producer Grant Program will help employers cover the costs of improving their operations to comply with the Occupational Health and Safety code coming into effect for farms and ranches on Saturday, December 1.

A winter wheat breeder in Lethbridge is hoping to make the crop more profitable by incorporating spring wheat end-use qualities.

Dr. Robert Graf with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada says, they've been working to increase winter wheat's protein concentration, gluten strength and flour water absorption, so it can bring a price similar to spring wheat.

Cereals Canada Takes Part in Italy Meetings

Cereals Canada President, Cam Dahl, was in Italy last week to try and re-open that market to Canadian durum, which has been plagued by country of origin labelling.

He's urging the Federal Government to launch a formal complaint with the World Trade Organization.
