A diverse background of cattle buying, flying, and even taking a seat as a Dragon on Dragons' Den, has led Jennifer Wood to the top of Agriculture Financial Services Corporation (AFSC).

Wood has been Board Chair since 2017, and is also a professional agrologist, agribusiness executive, and a cattle rancher.

She spoke at the Advancing Women in Agriculture Conference on Monday, March 11 in Calgary, and says it's about following your passions and setting goals.

"I look back and I think it was a piece of a message I heard earlier on. It's a saying, it's your attitude, not your aptitude, that really determines your altitude."

Wood reminds people you don't need to be at the top of an organization to take on a leadership role.

"I think it's important for women to know we lead in some many different areas, and it's important to share that with others because we all have a great skill set that is unique to ourselves."

There was about 400 women at the Advancing Women in Ag Conference.
