The Fire Advisory in Foothills County has been upgraded to a Fire Restriction.
It's due to the current dry, windy weather conditions and the prescience of flammable, dry vegetation, which could make for fast-moving wildfires.
They made the announcement on the County's social media pages and website on Monday (April 22) evening, effective immediately.
Class 1 fire permits are not being issued, and outstanding permits will be cancelled.
Fire Restrictions allow for residential fire pits and safe campfires, gas or propane stoves, charcoal briquettes, and wood pellet smokers.
The County will continue to monitor the conditions and could impose a Fire Ban at any time.
Locals are encouraged to keep an eye on the County's website or the Alberta Fire Bans website to stay up to date with the current status.
The restriction does not apply to the towns of Okotoks and High River, and there are no restrictions in place in either town at the moment.
